About Me

Well, things are getting back to normal. The mask mandate has been lifted. After working from home for about six months, I’m back at the office. Some of my co-workers are starting to go back to the office, too. Little by little, we are getting back to the routine we once had.

We’re in the middle of this Coronavirus outbreak. What can I do that would be special? Maybe I can encourage others by playing the piano.
We are all staying home and keeping our distance, avoiding social gatherings. One thing I miss most is going to church and singing hymns. Then I started thinking, that other people might feel the same way.
That’s why I started up my blog again, to encourage people through hymns.

This is my last year at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. I decided to get my degree in 2008. It was just the right time and the right place to finish my bachelor’s degree. It is more exciting and fulfilling than I ever dreamed, and I’ve met some amazing people. I’m not the same person I was five years ago because it’s been a life-changing experience.
I thought college was going to be easy. I’m smart. I love to read. But finishing was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Mostly, I had to overcome some time-management issues.
Being an English major wasn’t my first choice. My interests are in marketing, and public relations, so I was taking some business courses. Fortunately, I realized after Accounting II that it wasn’t for me. I passed the course, but it wasn’t easy.
I searched for a subject, a course of study that would be truly fulfilling.
Well, I’d wanted to be a writer since I was 12 years old reading the Nancy Drew Mysteries. I remember the books took up a whole shelf on my bookcase. I imagined that creating a work of fiction was like making a puzzle and then leading readers along the way.
This dream that was pushed aside for so many years suddenly came to mind.
I took four journalism classes with Professor Kara Miller. Today, she is the host and creator of Innovation Hub on WGBH radio in Boston, and she has a passion for journalism. Miller once said,
“Everyone has a story. You just have to find it.”
She challenged us and expected great things. Her classes provided a good foundation for my junior and senior years. She influenced my decision and really helped me solidify my academic plans. I realized that I am fascinated with creative non-fiction and declared a major in English with a concentration in writing, rhetoric, and communications.
It wasn’t as easy as I thought it was going to be. I’ve made some mistakes but tried to learned from them.
Graduation is just ahead. I can’t wait to see what the next chapter in my life brings.
